“This new facility was designed taking into account the surrounding landscape and the characteristics of the area where it is located. It comprises a raised structure built on pilings, with a wooden structure, using a unique cladding of cement and wood panels. The cladding was designed to provide effective protection of the building and give an aesthetic image associated with the sea and a fish scale,” states Peniche Municipal Council.

The Peniche High Performance Surfing Centre is designed for the training and technical improvement of national teams, teams, and elite and top competition surfers. It can accommodate about 30 people at any one time, both coaches and athletes, and it also has various technical and administrative offices, cafeteria and dining room, a shop, a registered office for a local surf-related association and also a small environment interpretation centre.
